Electricity bill help
What does an estimated meter read mean?

If your electricity bill says the meter read was estimated, the usage used to calculate that bill may be based on an estimate rather than an actual reading for that billing period.
Why does it matter?
An estimate can make a bill look higher or lower than your actual consumption for that period. That is why meter-read information is useful context when you compare one electricity bill with another.
What should you check?
Look for wording on the bill that identifies the reading as actual or estimated. Then check the billing dates, total kWh and average daily usage. If a later bill uses an actual reading, it may also help explain an adjustment from an earlier estimate.
How BUSTYA helps
When BUSTYA identifies an estimated meter read on a supported electricity bill, it flags it in the report so you can consider it alongside your usage and charges.
Looking at a surprisingly high bill?
An estimated read is only one possible reason a bill may be different. You should also compare usage, billing days, rates, daily supply charges and other bill charges.
